Welcome to Dissent. By downloading, accessing, or using the Dissent mobile application, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our User-Generated Content (UGC) Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the app.
1 Zero Tolerance for Objectionable Content and Abusive Users
Dissent is a platform for debate and sharing opinions. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards objectionable content and abusive users. You are solely responsible for the content you post ("Takes", "Comments", "Battles", and profile information).
You may not use Dissent to post, transmit, or share content that:
- Is Defamatory or Harassing: Bullying, insulting, or attacking other users.
- Promotes Hate Speech or Violence: Content that targets or attacks individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or gender.
- Is Sexually Explicit: Pornography, nudity, or sexually suggestive material.
- Endangers Public Safety or Promotes Illegal Acts: Instructions or encouragement for illegal activities, self-harm, or terrorism.
- Is Spam or Scam: Misleading content, repetitive unwanted messaging, or automated bot activity.
- Violates Intellectual Property Rights: Content that infringes on someone else's copyrights or trademarks.
2 Moderation and User Reporting
To maintain a safe environment, Dissent employs the following mechanisms in accordance with Apple App Store and Google Play Store guidelines:
- Automated Profanity Filtering: Content is scanned dynamically to prevent the dissemination of profane and highly offensive words.
- User Reporting System: You can report/flag objectionable content or abusive users directly within the app at any time by utilizing the "Flag/Report" feature attached to Takes and Profiles.
- User Blocking: You have the ability to block abusive users within the app, which prevents them from interacting with you and hides their content.
- Prompt Review: Our moderation team reviews flagged content and user reports promptly (typically within 24 hours).
- Account Suspension and Content Removal: If a user is found to be in violation of these Terms, their content will be immediately removed. The abusive user's account will face consequences ranging from a temporary ban to a permanent account deletion and device block.
3 Account Requirements and Security
- Age Restriction: You must be at least 13 years old to use Dissent.
- Account Security: You are responsible for safeguarding your account access.
4 Rights We Grant You
Dissent grants you a personal, worldwide, royalty-free, non-assignable, non-exclusive, revocable, and non-sublicensable license to access and use the app in accordance with these Terms.
5 Rights You Grant Us
By posting content on Dissent, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, publish, transmit, display, and distribute such content in any media or distribution methods within the context of operating and improving the Dissent app.
6 Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability
Dissent is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dissent and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app or any user-generated content you encounter on the platform.
7 Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms periodically to reflect changes in our app, legal requirements, or safety standards. Your continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
